PETEETNEET SPOTLIGHT
EXHIBIT
PETEETNEET
ART GALLERY
The
Peteetneet Museum is proud of the Peteetneet Art Gallery located on the main
floor of our building. The exhibits
are under the direction of the
Peteetneet Arts Council headed by current president, Donna Corno. Mrs. Corno, a noted artist in her own right,
has been overseeing the exhibits that have been scheduled each year in the
gallery. She has done an outstanding job
of locating and scheduling exhibits of many different artists.
She has spent many hours each year scheduling and helping set up each of
the displays which are held for about one to two months duration.
The
exhibits are of local artists as well as some state and national displays that
come to our building. We are currently
hosting an exhibit by local photographer, John Langdon. His photographs are some of the most
outstanding we have had up to this time.
If you haven’t been to see it yet, then stop by and you will be amazed
by the quality and beauty of the exhibit.
During
the year, there are displays of many different artists and their work including
painting, carving, sculpting and handwork.
This year we have scheduled the following exhibits:
(JANUARY-FEBRUARY) John Langdon will display his wonderful scenic
and unique photography.
(MARCH-APRIL) The Annual High School Juried Art Show. This exhibit has the various art mediums
created by local high school students.
This show is always one to put on your list.
(MAY-JUNE) Verdie Taggart will give the
Gallery a look at encaustic art, that is, wax art. It is very unusual and beautifully rendered.
(JUNE–TWO WEEKS) The Annual Peteetneet
Quilt Show. We expect the quilt show
this year to surpass in originality all of the previous shows. It is always spectacular. Hundreds of participants are involved each
year. The Dona Brain heads up this
committee every year and puts her heart and soul into making it a successful
show.
(JULY-AUGUST) Payson Senior Citizens Art
Show. This is the first time this group
will have a show in our gallery. The
artists are all local seniors who attend and oil painting class taught by Donna
Corno. Many of the students have won top
awards in the state, county, and city art displays.
(FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER) The Golden
Onion Days Art Show. This year, the
professional painting/photography display in the gallery will be up the entire
week following the Annual Onion Days Art and Flower Show.
(Cross Stitch Painting Show) Gary Duncan
has developed the cross-stitch skill to a high artistic level. They really are paintings. His work will be shown until near the end of
November.
(DECEMBER) Annual Peteetneet Train
Show. Once again Doug Lamb’s show comes
back to town. The layout of the trains
is different every year and is a hit with children and adults. There will be treats and even Santa on one of
the days prior to Christmas.
We invite everyone to take time and
visit each of the outstanding exhibits that have been scheduled by the
Peteetneet Arts Council. It will be time
well spent. We would like to give a
special thanks to the Arts Council for their outstanding efforts in promoting
culture in our community.
